On average most student pilots earn a private license in six months, flying just a few times per week.

The cost of learning to fly is dependent on several factors such as rental cost of the airplane and instructor fees. At Wright Brothers, the cost is between $6,900 and $7,500.

Nearly everyone has the physical and scholastic aptitude to learn to fly. In fact, nine out of ten people who want to learn, actually have the ability and skills required.

All students must pass a simple medical exam prior to obtaining their license. The medical exam must be renewed every two years.

Some of the issues the student pilots learn in ground school are the principles of lift, gravity, drag, control, airspeed, and basic instrumentation.

Private Pilot's License
The Private Pilot’s License is the first step in aviation, whether your plans are pleasure flying or a career in aviation. The requirements for this license are the same nationwide and specify a minimum of 40 hours of flight training. The national average, however, is in excess of 55 hours due to individual abilities and commitment.
Eligibility Requirements
Student Pilot Certificate

Must be at least 16 years of age.

Must be able to read, speak, and understand the English Language.

Must hold at least a third class medical certificate.

Private Pilot Certificate

Must be at least 17 years of age.

Must be able to read, speak, and understand the English Language.

Must hold at least a third class medical certificate.

Specific Requirements for the Private Pilot Rating
-
Hold a Third Class Medical/Student Pilot Certificate. Must be acquired any time prior to first solo.

Pass a written exam. Ground school instruction is available 7 days a week. The FAA written test is taken after successful completion of the ground school course and is valid for 2 years.

4. Flight Check
Once all of the above requirements are met, a flight check is conducted by an independent examiner. The successful completion of this flight check results in the issuance of a Private Pilot’s Certificate
